There are many places where you can buy a garage unit heater to warn up your garage so that you can work comfortably in your garage during rhose cold winter days and nights.

Many of us do not bother to buy and install a garage unit heater, thinking that it will not be necessary. I for one, always put on the extra clothing during the cold spells when working in my garage. While this is fine, however, I do not realise the danger of it - till one incident.

For months since me and my family moved into the new house that has a cosy garage, we have fully furnished the home except for my garage. While I got most of my things done up for the garage, I missed out the garage heater. My wife has been asking me to go and buy a garage unit heater and place it in the garage. But I always forgot about it since it is nice to have and not essential. So the garage unit heater idea just slipp off my mind…

One cold afternoon, I decide to to some repair work for my old vintage car in the garage. I put on several layers of clothes because that day in particular was very very cold. While working halfway, my hands and feets were so cold that I was not able to control the movement very well. Then as I was climbing up a ladder with a screw driver in my hand, my feet was half numb and I could not really feel the steps well. I slipped and fell from the top of my ladder. I landed flat with my back and hit my head on the ground. Then the screw driver fell on my knee. I was sent to th4e hospital immediately. Fortunately, I did not break any bones, but suffered bad cut and swollen knee and head. My wife was worried and at the same time mad at me for not buying a garage unit heater earlier. In my painful state, I turn around and ask - “Dear, now can you tell me where can I buy a garage unit heater?” She rolled up her eyes.

Using A Solar Heater For Swimming Pool To Save Your Electricity Bill

April 24th, 2007    Subscribe To Our Feed

There are many ways to keep your swimming pool warm even in cold weather, and one of them is to install a solar heater for your swimming pool. The idea of harnessing the Sun energy to heat up the pool has been gaining popularity. The reason behind this popularity appears to be the easy and cost-effective way by which a solar heater for swimming pool warm up the pool water, usually from seven to ten degrees, and provides a warm, comfortable feeling of bath in a free and open space.

The Various Function Of A Solar Heater For Swimming Pool

A solar heater for swimming pool works by streaming the water of the swimming pool through a filter that leads it into a solar collector. This solar collector contains solar heat collected from the sun by means of specially designed panels. The pool water absorbs the collector’s heat and returns into the pool via the pump. Certain kinds of solar heaters serve a dual role i.e. besides heating the pool water in winter, they can also be run during the night and kept off during daytime. This helps maintain a cooler water temperature during the warm summer days.

Price And Heating Capacity Of A Solar Heater For Swimming Pool

The price and heating capacity of a solar heater for swimming pool depend very much on the heater’s size. The most popular size of the solar heater is the one with 2’x20’ panels. It costs approximately $150 a set. Two panel sets i.e. 4’x20’ is enough to heat a 18’-24’ round pool. If you have a 16’ round pool, you can do it with smaller panels i.e. 4’x10’.

Installing A Solar Heater For Swimming Pool

Installing a solar heater for swimming pool is quite easy and usually takes less than an hour. What you need to do is take a hose and clamps and connect the solar panel to the pump. Now roll out the panel to finish your installation process. Remember that you do not have to mount the panels permanently. You may either just mount them up on the roof or position them by using frames available from the dealer. On first turning on the panels, they will feel hot to touch for some awhile. After that, they’ll cool down.

Maintenance Of A Solar Heater For Swimming Pool

There is little maintenance required for a solar heater. However, keeping balanced water chemistry is important as well as keeping the filter in proper working condition.

Using solar heater for the pool is very beneficial since it is totally free after you pay the initial setup cost. You can also use solar heaters in together with another swimming pool heater. This brings down the electric costs by as much as 70 per cent.

April 21st, 2007    Subscribe To Our Feed

When modern conveniences first became available to mankind, they were used to make our average life easier. For those who had a life that was more or less than the average one, modern conveniences were not so available and not so convenient. Today, technology has become so flexible and available that it can fit into almost any lifestyle. One such example is the very flexible and very convenient portable air conditioner and heater.

Running Hot And Cold Air Through the Portable Air Conditioner and Heater

As you can see by its description, the portable air conditioner and heater is flexible enough to provide both heating and cooling functions while being portable. That’s flexible. But how is it convenient for you and us? If you haven’t already jumped up and yelled “Oh boy Really! They make those things? That’s exactly what I need to hear!” then we can look at the various ways that you might use a portable air conditioner and heater. If you are a homeowner, you probably have a central heating system and may also have central air conditioning. You can use a portable air conditioner and heater to make a room more usable and comfortable. The basement, attic, garage or sun porch may not be connected to your existing central heating and cooling system. You can get optimised more of these rooms with a portable air conditioner and heater. Whether you need more heat or less heat, you can wheel the unit in and out of the area you want to use and its part of the house.

What about the part of the house that’s already connected to the central heating and cooling system? There are times when the family is out of the house except maybe for one person. Maybe one Sunday a grownup and all the kids are gone to the park, on a visit, to the mall or whatever. The remaining grownup is stuck in the home office with a stack of work and deadline. The weather is very cold or maybe very hot. Why heat or cool the whole house all day round when only one room is being used? Turn the temperature of the house up or down to the minimum and move the portable air conditioner and heater into the home office. You save energy while the working grownup is comfortable for pennies. The same goes for the deck or backyard eating area and other parts of the house.

What if you live in an apartment? That’s obvious isnt it. You don’t have to depend on your landlord for trying to get sufficient heat anymore. The portable air conditioner and heater can go into your bedroom all winter long. You won’t have to beg for permission just to add a window air conditioner either. Whatever your life, I am sure you can find flexibility and convenience with a portable air conditioner and heater.

Where Can I Buy a Garage Wall Heater

April 10th, 2007    Subscribe To Our Feed

You have many choices if you want to buy a garage wall heater.

These days, garage wall heaters come in all shapes and sizes. Assess your garage heating needs before you make your choice. You can find portable garage heaters that can be moved from room to room as needed and even warm up and area on the deck or in the back yard. You can find heaters for almost every kind of fuel: electric, gas, propane and solar. If your garage heating needs are fairly permanent and you have safety concerns with the portable units, you might want to consider a professionally-installed garage wall heater.

Once installed, you won’t have to worry about the garage wall heater being tipped over or a child or pet becoming dangerously curious. Although today’s garage wall heaters have many safety features, it is always better to provide your own additional features by planning for the best installation for your needs. Have the garage wall heater installed in an area where there won’t be objects that will block the air circulation around it or where flammable things may be kept. Think about how you use the room, especially at the colder times of the year.

A garage wall heater with an ignition is safer than one that needs to be lit with a match. A thermostat will prevent overheating and over drying the contents of your room. A ventless garage wall heater should have an oxygen-depletion-sensing shutoff feature. The ventless heater takes the air from the room to heat it. With an automatic shutoff, it will stop heating if there is not enough fresh air in the room. Of course, the heating element should be shielded. Many garage wall heaters are safe even around blowing curtains.

Once the garage wall heater is installed, make sure that you understand the maintenance directions in the manual. A garage wall heater needs to be cleaned once or twice a year to remove debris that has been taken in with the air. You can enjoy warmth in every room of your home all year round and save money, too, with a good wall heater.
